Donor Memorial

  • Mrs. Vimala Laxminarayan  Doba - 76 Years

On the evening of May 30, 2024, at 7:20 p.m., Mr. Mitesh Doba called Ms. Veena Wathore, Project Manager at MOHAN Foundation, to inform her of the passing of his beloved mother, Mrs. Vimala Laxminarayan Doba, aged 76, who had passed away ten minutes earlier. It was his mother's wish to perform ˜Mahadaan' by donating her organs.

Tragically, Vimala had suffered a fatal neck fracture after a fall and underwent surgery at Shri Radhakrishna Hospital & Research Institute in Wardhaman Nagar, Nagpur. Her three children - daughters Hemalata Vyas and Premlata Kudal, and son Mitesh Doba - were determined to fulfil her wish. Unsure of the next steps, Mr. Mitesh was advised by Dr. Ashwini Choudhary to contact Ms. Veena Wathore at MOHAN Foundation.

Veena explained that organ donation is only possible in cases of brain death and provided guidance on the process of whole-body donation. The family promptly agreed to donate Vimala's body to GMCH (Government Medical College and Hospital), Nagpur, for medical research and studies.

Veena coordinated with Dr. Arun Kasote, Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at GMCH-Nagpur. On the morning of May 31, 2024, at 9:45 a.m., Ms. Bhagyashree Nighot, MOHAN Foundation's Transplant Coordinator and Grief Counselor, assisted in completing the donation process.
