Rangoli Making Competition on Organ Donation at IGGMC-Nagpur

  • Aligned with the Government of India's Ministry of Health & Family Welfare's "Angdan Jan Jagurkta Abhiyan," July 2024 has been dedicated as Organ Donation Month, culminating in Organ Donation Day on August 3rd. Taking charge of this initiative, the MOHAN Foundation-Nagpur, in collaboration with the NTORC registered Indira Gandhi Govt. Medical College & Hospital, organized a series of events leading up to August 3rd.

    On July 12, 2024, at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, the MOHAN Foundation hosted a vibrant Rangoli competition for Nursing and MBBS students in the OPD area. A total of 14 students enthusiastically participated in this artistic endeavor.

    The judging panel comprised esteemed professionals: Dr. Bhawana Sonawane, Professor and Head of the Department of Radiology, and Dr. Radha Munje, Professor and Head of the Department of Chest Medicine.

    Three Nursing students emerged victorious in the competition, with consolation prizes awarded to one MBBS student and two Nursing students. Dr. Vaishali Shelgaonkar, Professor and Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Nodal Officer at IGGMCH, Dr. Bhawana Sonawane, Dr. Radha Munje, Dr. Sonali Khobragade (Associate Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology), Dr. Parag Sable (Assistant Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology), Mrs. Sushma Watari (Reader, Nursing College), and Mrs. Veena Wathore (Project Manager, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur) actively contributed to the success of the event.

    The Rangoli artworks, adorned with messages promoting organ donation, captivated the attention of over 400 attendees in the OPD area. This visually striking display was complemented by the distribution of MOHAN Foundation's informative brochures on organ donation, resulting in 5 pledges from enthusiastic participants.

    Throughout the event, banners and posters strategically placed in the OPD Area, Centralized Laboratory, and near Medicine and Surgery OPDs, as well as the Medicine Intensive Care Unit and Surgical Intensive Care Unit, further amplified the message of organ donation awareness.
