Poster Making Competition on Organ Donation at IGGMC-Nagpur

  • As part of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare's "Angdan Jagurkta Abhiyan" initiative, July 2024 has been designated as Organ Donation Month, with August 3rd marked as Organ Donation Day. Leading this initiative, the MOHAN Foundation-Nagpur, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital (IGGMCH), registered as NTORC, organized a series of events culminating on August 3rd.

    On July 11, 2024, at IGGMCH, the Department of Anaesthesiology and Department of Medicine, in association with MOHAN Foundation, conducted a poster competition for MBBS and Nursing students in the OPD area. A total of 29 students participated in the competition, and their posters were prominently displayed.

    The inaugural event was graced by Dr. Ravi Chauhan, Dean of IGGMCH, and Dr. Vaishali Shelgaonkar, Professor and Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Nodal Officer. The judging panel for the poster competition included Dr. B. Kove, Professor and Head of the Department of Pathology, and Dr. Alka Patankar, Professor and Head of the Department of OBGY.

    Six winners were selected, comprising 3 Nursing students and 3 MBBS students. The event also saw active participation from Dr. Sonali Khobragade, Dr. Shobhana Bitey, and Dr. Tillottama Parate, Associate Professors from the Department of Medicine, Mrs. Sushma Watari, Reader from the Nursing College, Mrs. Veena Wathore, Project Manager, and Miss. Bhagyashree Nighot, Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation.

    During the event, MOHAN Foundation distributed informational brochures and pledge forms to approximately 500-600 individuals present in the OPD area. Encouragingly, eight people pledged to donate their organs.

    This initiative not only promoted awareness about organ donation but also underscored the collaborative efforts between healthcare professionals, educational institutions, and community organizations in advancing this noble cause.
