On October 1, 2024, the Akhil Bhartiya Marwadi Mahila Sammelan (ABMMS) in Rishikesh invited MOHAN Foundation to set up an information desk to promote organ donation at a blood donation camp held at SPS Government Medical Hospital, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The invitation was extended by Ms. Nutan Aggrawal, Chairperson of ABMMS, Rishikesh, and an Organ Donation Ambassador of MOHAN Foundation.
The event included a voluntary blood donation camp and an awareness-raising session on organ donation. Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader at MOHAN Foundation, stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh, managed the information desk. The desk attracted hospital staff, ABMMS members, blood camp volunteers, and blood donors, who asked various questions such as:
• What is brain death?
• What are corneas?
• Does MOHAN Foundation have a 24/7 helpline?
• Has there been any cadaver donation in Rishikesh?
• Who is responsible for organ allocation, the hospital or a government agency?
• Can the organ donation form be filled out online, and what are the steps?
• What is the role of MOHAN Foundation in organ donation?
All queries were addressed at the desk, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on organ donation were distributed to participants.
Approximately 15 individuals visited the information desk during the event.
