On October 5, 2024, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, spoke to tenth-grade students at Shree Ganesh High School in Ganeshpuri, Mapusa, about organ donation.
Mr. Gabriel shared his journey with the students, explaining his motivation for becoming an ambassador. He recounted how his sister-in-law’s diagnosis of renal failure and need for a life-saving organ inspired him to take on the mission of educating the people of Goa about organ donation.
The students listened attentively as Mr. Gabriel highlighted the importance of organ donation. He encouraged them to spread the message to their friends and family, emphasizing that they have the power to make a meaningful impact.
Using a PowerPoint presentation, Mr. Gabriel covered topics such as circulatory and brain stem death, organ and tissue donation, organ allocation, green corridors, and donor cards. He also discussed the different ways to become a donor or sign up for organ donation, such as scanning the QR code on the Foundation’s website or indicating 'yes' to organ donation when applying for a driver’s license.
Approximately 60 students attended the talk, and FAQs on organ donation were distributed.
Mr. Gabriel expressed his gratitude to the Principal, Ms. Pallavi Dhuri, as well as the teachers, staff, and students for inviting the MOHAN Foundation to deliver the talk on organ donation.
