On June 2, 2024, MOHAN Foundation received a request to establish an organ donation information desk to commemorate the 75th birthday of Prof. Purushottam Welhe, Head of Department of Economics at Dr. Ambedkar College in Chandrapur. This initiative was spearheaded by his daughter and liver donor, Dr. Pallavi Dongre, who had selflessly donated a portion of her liver to her mother in 2013. Driven by her commitment to organ donation, Dr. Pallavi, along with her family members, pledged to donate their organs and set up the information desk as part of the birthday celebrations.
Ms. Veena Wathore, Project Manager at MOHAN Foundation, coordinated the setup by providing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and pledge forms. Eight family members participated in the pledge to donate organs, underscoring their dedication to supporting this noble cause. Additionally, MOHAN Foundation pamphlets were distributed to visitors during the festival, further spreading awareness about organ donation and its significance.
The event not only celebrated Prof. Purushottam Welhe's milestone birthday but also served as a poignant reminder of the importance of organ donation in saving lives. MOHAN Foundation extends warm birthday wishes to Prof. Purushottam Welhe, acknowledging the legacy of compassion and generosity he has instilled in his family and community over the past 75 years. May his birthday celebration continue to inspire others to consider the gift of life through organ donation.
