Organ Donation Awareness talk at All Saints Cathedral, Sadar, Nagpur

Updated on Monday, March 31, 2025
  • On March 22, 2025, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness activity on organ donation at All Saints Cathedral, Sadar, Nagpur. The activity was organized by Mr. Moses Gour, Programme Executive from the National Council of Churches in India, along with the Christian Service Agency, for the women fellowship students.

The activity began with Bhagyashree Nighot from the MOHAN Foundation, who explained the foundation's work, including their courses and the Anudan program. She also shared her experience at GMCH Nagpur, explaining what happens after counselling and receiving consent from the donor's family. Bhagyashree spoke about the Green Corridor, a special route that ensures organs are transported safely for transplant.

Next, MS Khushi Nandawanshi, a liver donor, shared her personal experience of donating part of her liver. Her story encouraged others to think about the positive impact of organ donation.

To make the session more interactive, Fr. Rev. Ganesh Barve and Fr. Rev. Uttam Khoparagade organized an activity where the students were divided into two teams. One team spoke in favour of organ donation, and the other raised points against it. This helped everyone better understand the topic from different perspectives.

The activity was attended by 25 women fellowship students, who actively participated and asked several important questions, such as:

    1. How can we get involved in organ donation?
    2. What is the cost of a liver transplant?
    3. Can organs be stored for transplant?

The MOHAN Foundation would like to thank Mr. Moses Gour, Fr. Rev. Ganesh Barve, and Fr. Rev. Uttam Khoparagade for their support in organizing this activity. Their collaboration helped raise awareness about the importance of organ donation.

We look forward to continuing to work together to spread awareness and encourage more people to support organ donation.
