Karnataka is reputed for its medical infrastructure and efficient medical professionals. Despite all this, every year thousands of patients are dying due to organ failure in the state and thousands are waiting for an organ for transplant with end stage of organ failure. The major reason behind this is the low rate of organ donation happening here. To address this issue MOHAN Foundation is giving high importance to public awareness programmes across the state on the need of organ donation.
On 20th September 2012, MOHAN Foundation organised an organ donation awareness talk for the employees of Upstream Talent Management Service, Bangalore. More than 20 employees from strategic sourcing department attended the programme. The interactive session helped the participants to better understand the concepts related to Deceased Organ Donation and to develop a right attitude to support this noble cause.
The main topics discussed during the programme were:
Ø Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
Ø Brain Death- how it is different from natural death and coma
