  • On April 5, 2025 an Organ Donation Awareness Talk was conducted by Ms. Prarthana, Public Education Counselor, at the Radiation Oncology Department of Apollo Hospital, Belapur, Navi Mumbai. The session was specially organized for the nursing staff and doctors of the department, with the support and coordination of Sister Geeta.

A total of 12 nursing staff members attended the session, out of which 2 took the organ donation pledge.

During the interactive session, the staff raised thoughtful questions, such as:

    • How much time does the organ donation process take?
    • In cases of heart donation, how much time does it take for the heart to travel from one place to another?

Ms. Prarthana addressed these queries by explaining the time-sensitive nature of organ retrieval and transplantation, especially in the case of the heart. She emphasized the importance of coordination between hospitals, transplant teams, and transport services to ensure timely procedures.

She further explained the various courses offered by MOHAN Foundation, which help build knowledge and capacity in the field of organ donation. She also shared information about the MOHAN Foundation helpline number for organ donation-related queries and support.
