  • On April 3, 2025, an Organ Donation Awareness Talk was conducted by Ms. Prarthana, Public Education Counselor, at Balaji Hospital, Wahal, Navi Mumbai. The session was specially organized for the Nursing Staff of the ICU Department, with the support of Dr. Nagendra Jadhav (Surgeon).

A total of 13 nursing staff members attended the session. During the session, Ms. Prarthana explained the importance and need for organ donation, the difference between brain death and cardiac death, and addressed common myths and misconceptions related to organ donation. She also discussed the process of pledging to become an organ donor.

The session was interactive and informative, with participants showing active interest and engaging in discussions. One of the participants raised a thoughtful question:"Why don’t donor families get to know who receives the organs?" Ms. Prarthana explained that, to maintain privacy and confidentiality, the identity of the recipient is not disclosed, in line with national organ donation guidelines.

She further suggested that participants watch the film "Aye Zindagi", as it beautifully portrays the emotional journey of both donors and recipients. She mentioned that watching this film can help one truly understand the pain and hope experienced by recipients. This initiative aimed to sensitize healthcare professionals and encourage them to promote the cause of organ donation within the hospital and the larger community.
