On June 15, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted an impactful awareness session on Organ Donation for batch 2 students at Government ITI Belapur. Mr. S J Patil, Principal of the college, played a crucial role in organizing the session, with Ms. Prarthana as the key resource. The session began with Ms. Prarthana providing an insightful introduction to MOHAN Foundation, detailing its mission to promote organ donation and address the critical shortage of donated organs in India.
Throughout the session, Ms. Prarthana elaborated on several key topics. She emphasized the definition and profound importance of Organ Donation, highlighting how deceased organ donation can significantly impact and save multiple lives. The discussion delved into the current state of organ donation in India, underscoring the substantial gap between the demand for organs and their availability, which remains a pressing issue in healthcare.
Furthermore, the session addressed the urgency in promoting cadaver organ donation, stressing the timely procedures required for successful organ transplantation. Ms. Prarthana also explained the process and significance of pledging organs and tissues, encouraging students to consider becoming donors and discussing the various activities and educational courses offered by MOHAN Foundation to raise awareness and educate the public.
In addition to dispelling myths and superstitions surrounding Organ Donation, the session explored the challenges faced in motivating and encouraging organ donation, proposing effective strategies to overcome these barriers. The session concluded with 87 students actively engaging in discussions and 80 students pledging to donate their organs, demonstrating a commendable commitment to this noble cause.
