Organ Donation Awareness Talk Conducted at Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai

  • On August 6, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness program on organ donation at the auditorium of Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai. The session was arranged and organized by Mr. Anil Sahu from the marketing department, and was attended by Civil Defense and NSS students from SIES College, Terna College, and Vidyalankar College.

    Approximately 166 participants attended the session and 44 took the pledge, where Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi was the key speaker.She highlighted the effective use of the organ donation helpline, 1800 103 7100, and discussed various aspects of organ donation, including the types of organ donations, how to register as an organ donor, and the concepts of brain death and circulatory death. Ms. Prarthana also emphasized the importance of carrying a donor card and encouraged everyone to pledge their organs. The session was interactive and engaging, with participants actively asking questions. Queries included concerns about potential body disfigurement after bone donation, how to register for the waiting list, the necessity of a post-mortem after organ donation, and how the helpline works for online donor pledge registration. Ms. Prarthana addressed all these questions comprehensively. She concluded the session by expressing her gratitude to Mr. Anil Sahu and Apollo Hospital for organizing the event and supporting the cause of organ donation.
