On August 6, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation for the hospital staff of Medicity Hospital, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The session, arranged by Mr. Ankush Sulve, the hospital administrator, aimed to educate the staff on the importance and processes of organ donation. Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, the speaker for the day, began by introducing the MOHAN Foundation, outlining its mission, vision, and activities. She provided a comprehensive overview of organ donation, including which organs can be donated, the different types of donations such as living and cadaver donations, and the detailed process of donation and transplantation. Ms. Dwivedi also discussed donation statistics over the years and addressed common myths about organ donation.
She highlighted the organs and tissues that can be donated both while living and after death due to circulatory or brain stem death. The critical nature of timely transplantation from deceased donors was also emphasized. During the interactive Q&A session, participants raised questions about the skin donation process and age criteria for eye donation. Ms. Dwivedi answered all queries promptly and thoroughly. The session was attended by around 17 hospital staff members, 12 of whom pledged to become organ donors. The MOHAN Foundation extends its gratitude to Mr. Ankush Sulve for organizing the event and supporting the cause of organ donation.
