On December 29, 2024, MOHAN Foundation actively participated in a health camp held at Keisham Lairembi Community Hall, Keishampat Keisham Leikai, Imphal-West, Manipur. Representing the Foundation was Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, who set up an awareness and pledge counter alongside Ms. Chongtham Pritam, Medical Social Worker assisting with organ transplants at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
The health camp was organized by RIMS, Imphal, in collaboration with the Republican Party of India (RPI-Athawale) as part of the Swachhta Action Plan 2024-2025. The initiative aimed to provide free health services while raising awareness about critical health issues within the community.
Free health evaluations were provided, enabling residents to receive medical consultations and check-ups from specialists in Medicine, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, and ENT. Senior citizens above 70 years were offered health cards under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), ensuring access to government health insurance benefits.
Ms. Monica conducted an awareness session explaining the fundamentals of organ, eye, and whole-body donation. Her talk emphasized the life-saving impact of organ donation and encouraged participants to consider pledging for this noble cause. An information desk provided attendees with answers to their questions, offering clarity on the organ donation process and its importance.
Close to 100 citizens gained valuable information on organ, eye, and whole-body donation. Three individuals took the pledge to become organ donors, demonstrating a growing commitment to fostering a culture of generosity and selflessness within the community.
The camp concluded with a felicitation ceremony, honoring the doctors and staff who volunteered their time and expertise. The organizers, RPI Keisham Leikai, expressed gratitude to the healthcare professionals and volunteers for their contributions to the success of the event. The health camp not only provided vital medical services but also strengthened community awareness and engagement, leaving a lasting positive impact.
