Online course on Transplant Coordination Professional Certificate (November 18, 2024 - December 28, 2024)

  • The 'Transplant Coordination Professional Certificate', a six-week online course hosted by the MOHAN Foundation from 18th November – 28th December, 2024 was recently completed with success. A total of 57 candidates including 55 from India, 1 from UAE and 1 from Ghana had signed up for the online course.

     

    The important elements of the course consisted of the following:

    • Access to the e-learning platform with study materials and resources
    • Online assessments to reinforce learning
    • Weekly interactive webinars including professionals in organ donation and transplantation

     

    The main highlight of the training program was the weekly interactive webinars delivered by the experts in organ donation and transplantation field. These live sessions raised participant interaction, hence, fostering interesting and cooperative atmosphere. By means of these conversations, participants could interact personally with the speakers and exchange ideas, which in turn resulted in enhanced learning experience.

    Some of the topics covered under the weekly webinars were:

    • Key Concepts in organ donation and transplantation.
    • Transplantation of Human Organs Act and Rules
    • Brainstem Death – introduction, Diagnosis and Certification.
    • Transplant coordinators and their role in Deceased Donor Transplant Programs and Living donations
    • Ethical Dilemmas in Organ Donation and Transplantation
    • Role of counselling and Approaching Donor Families

    The faculty for the course were:

    • Mr. A. Johnson, Senior transplant Manager, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai

    An online examination was conducted on December 28, 2024. 38 (out of 57) participants received their course completion certificates. A reattempt examination will be held on January 10, 2024
