Students of Bachelor of Social Work and Masters of Social Work of Thiruthangal Nadar College visited MOHAN Foundation as part of their exposure field visit on Sept 10, 2024. The event was organized by MOHAN Foundation at their training hall. 18 students and 2 staff from the college and 2 interns of MMM College of Health Sciences attended the orientation session.
Ms. Arshiya Fathima (Helpline Counselor & Education Executive) welcomed the students and staff and distributed green ribbons, information pamphlets.
Ms. Arshiya began with an online quiz on organ donation, voluntary body donation and skin. All students and staff participated with enthusiasm. It was very interactive. She then spoke of the intervention done by MOHAN Foundation to increase public awareness through public talks, training Ambassadors and running a Helpline. She also cleared all doubts during the session.
The next session was by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer. She explained the mission of MOHAN Foundation, and the efforts put forth by MOHAN Foundation to create awareness on organ donation and improve the rate of organ donation in India. The session was interactive and all the doubts of the students were cleared.
She further explained the importance of family counseling to the donor family and had a 6 case studies discussion with students.
At the final session, Mr. K Charan, Program Associate MOHAN Foundation explained about Transplant Coordinator courses offered by MOHAN Foundation, its structure, value and fee structure. These are value added courses for students of social work to get placement in hospitals.
