On September 11, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation for the general public during Ganesh Utsav at Sukhkarta Ashtvinayak Sarvajanik Mitra Mandal. The session was organized by Mr. Rohit Gharat, aiming to educate attendees on the significance and processes of organ donation.
Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, the speaker, introduced the MOHAN Foundation and outlined its mission, vision, and various activities. She provided a comprehensive overview of organ donation, discussing which organs can be donated, the differences between living and cadaver donations, and the detailed processes involved in donation and transplantation.
Ms. Dwivedi highlighted donation statistics over the years and addressed prevalent myths surrounding organ donation. She explained the types of organs and tissues that can be donated both while living and after death due to circulatory or brain stem death, emphasizing the critical nature of timely transplantation from deceased donors.
The session included an interactive Q&A segment where participants raised questions about the bone donation process and contraindications for eye donation. Ms. Dwivedi addressed all queries thoroughly.The session was attended by around 77 members, 32 of whom pledged to donate organs.
