Sensitization Programme on Organ Donation for Buddhist Devotees at Jaitala, Nagpur

  • On May 1, 2022 an awareness session was held for Buddhist devotees at Buddha Vihar, Jaitala,  Nagpur. Mr. Jalendra Meshram, president of Jaitala invited Mr.Bulu Behera and requested him to conduct a session on organ donation for the devotees.

    Mr. Behera started his presentation and engaged the devotees by asking them about their perception about organ donation. Thereafter he discussed the below contents

    1. Why donate organs?
    2. Who can donate?- living and deceased donor
    3. Age limit to donate organs
    4. Which organs can be donated in – Natural death and Brain death
    5. Concept of Brain death and Circulatory death
    6. Eye donation and how it can be done even at home
    7. Importance of organ donation in India
    8. Organ donation scenario in India as compared to rest of the world
    9. Myths Vs. Facts about organ donation
    10. How the audience can get involved in the cause of organ donation?
    11. Details of organ donation Helpline 18001031700 was shared with the participants.

     

    The talk motivated 10 of them to pledge their organs. Approximately 30 devotees were present for the talk. Mr. Meshram gave the vote of thanks and expressed his heartfelt appreciation to MOHAN Foundation’s work in creating awareness about organ donation.
