On 23rd August, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation was organized for the employees of Property Solutions Private Limited, Nandanam, Chennai. Lions Club of Golden Charity and Property Solutions Pvt. Ltd. invited MOHAN Foundation, Chennai to organise the session.
Ms. Kavitha S and Mr. Prakash K, Transplant Coordinators’, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted the session. Ms. Kavitha made the presentation to the employees and aimed at sensitizing them about the need for organ donation. She covered the following topics: activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the deceased organ donation programme; types of organ donation - live and deceased; about brain death; who can donate organs and tissues; the importance of consent by family members for the actual donation to take place and the importance of pledging ones organs by signing the donor card.
The participants actively participated in the session. Few of the queries that were raised at the session: about organ allocation, where the organ retrieval takes place and whom to contact in case of an emergency.
A total of 30 employees participated in the session and 25 of them signed the donor card.
