On March 27, 2025, the Rotary Club Rishikesh Divas invited MOHAN Foundation to set up an information desk to promote organ donation at the Dental Check-up Camp held at Hanuman Mandir, Mayakund, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The invitation was extended by Ms. Tanu Jain, President of the Club, and Dr. Shubhangi Raina, Secretary of Rotary Club Rishikesh Divas.
The event featured a general dental check-up camp, awareness sessions on oral hygiene, and an organ donation information desk. Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader at MOHAN Foundation, stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh, managed the desk, engaging with hospital staff, Rotary Club members, camp volunteers, and patients. Visitors posed several queries, including:
• Can a family choose to donate only the eyes?
• Is there a skin bank in Uttarakhand?
• What is the cost of a kidney transplant at AIIMS Rishikesh?
• Does an ABHA card provide financial benefits for kidney transplants?
• If someone donates organs after brain death, does their family receive any benefits?
• Does the MOHAN Foundation helpline operate 24/7?
• Can the organ donation form be filled out online, and what are the steps?
All queries were addressed at the desk, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on organ donation were distributed to participants.
Participant Feedback:
• Conduct an awareness program for all ASHA workers so they can spread the word about organ donation door-to-door and provide accurate information to the general public.
Approximately 30 individuals visited the information desk, and two ASHA workers pledged to donate their organs by filling out the form on the NOTTO website.
