Organ Donation Information Desk at Wakao’s Blood Bonding Brunch, Panjim, Goa

  • On October 29, 2024, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador for the MOHAN Foundation, set up an organ donation information desk at the annual blood donation camp organized by Mr. Sairaj Dhond, Founder and CEO of Wakao Foods, in celebration of his birthday. The event was held in association with the Indian Red Cross Society and the Goa Medical College Blood Bank.

Wakao Foods is India’s first brand to create products from the superfood jackfruit. This Goa-based sustainable food brand offers handpicked natural products with a vision of benefiting the planet. The company is committed to creating a better tomorrow—one where humanity thrives—by providing products made from ethically grown and sourced ingredients, which are then hygienically processed and packaged. All Wakao products contain no preservatives, have a shelf life of one year, and require no refrigeration. The company marked its fourth anniversary on this day.

After donating blood, Mr. Gabriel spoke to the attendees about organ donation. He emphasized that simply having a donor card or expressing a willingness to donate is not enough for successful organ donation; family support is essential. He encouraged everyone to communicate their wishes to their families and friends, ensuring that they could accept the situation when brain death is declared.

Approximately 30 people attended the camp, and four signed up as organ donors. Informational materials on organ donation were also distributed.
