On April 12th, 2025, the MOHAN Foundation team visited Govarthan Nagar Nerkundran, to raise awareness about organ donation within the community. This initiative was made possible with the support of the Family Planning Association of India, Chennai branch, which was conducting a cervical cancer screening camp for women in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Chennai.
The event took place at the Village Office in Nerkundran. The program began at 11:30 AM with a flash mob performed by students from the Magic Bus NGO, which works with young people. The event was made even more special by the presence of MLA Ganapati K., who presented gifts to the students who participated in the performance. Following this, the MLA toured the venue to see the various activities organized by the Family Planning Association, MOHAN Foundation, and Rotary Club.
An information desk set up by the MOHAN Foundation showcased donor cards, “Gift of Life” brochures, large donor cards, and a standee. This desk was conveniently located near the registration area for the cervical cancer screening, making it easy for attendees to access information about organ donation. The team included marketing coordinator Mr. Ganesh C and intern Ms. Anood Jafar.
While the beneficiaries were seated in the inauguration area, the MOHAN Foundation team distributed 106 brochures, reflecting the strength of the crowd. As women arrived for registration, Mr. Ganesh and Ms. Anood engaged with them again, resulting in 23 individuals pledging to become organ donors.
At the conclusion of the event, the team presented a large donor card to Dr. Moideen, General Physician for a photo opportunity. Ms. Kavitha, the branch manager of the Family Planning Association, was instrumental in inviting the MOHAN Foundation to participate in this event. Through this initiative, the MOHAN Foundation team also interacted with the chairperson of the Rotary Club, Dr. Alan, and DMK area secretary Ramesh Raj. The event wrapped up with a group photo featuring all team members.
