On August 02, 2024, the ARUYWE Foundation organized a significant awareness session on organ donation for the Women Self-Help Group (SHG) in Ramathandalam Village. In collaboration with the MOHAN Foundation, the event aimed to educate and empower the women of the village on the crucial subject of organ donation.
Empowering Communities: A Joint Initiative
The ARUYWE Foundation has always been at the forefront of promoting women empowerment, children's education, and skill development for both youth and women. This event was a step forward in expanding these efforts to include health awareness, specifically organ donation, in partnership with the MOHAN Foundation.
Event Highlights:
The SHG meeting began with a routine check of bookkeeping records, followed by a discussion on grey water management. Ms. Kamala and Ms. Jenifer Diana from ARUYWE Foundation led this discussion, educating the participants on the importance of water conservation and the effective use of soak pits.
The focus then shifted to organ donation, a topic of immense importance but often surrounded by misconceptions. Mr. Ganesh C, Marketing Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation, delivered an insightful session covering various aspects of organ donation:
Understanding Organ Donation: How and when it happens.
Brain Death: Clarifying this critical concept.
Government Schemes: Available resources and how to access organs through official channels.
Debunking Myths: Addressing common myths and scams related to organ donation.
Helpline Information: Promoting the use of the organ donation helpline, 1800 103 7100, for any queries or support. The session was highly informative and interactive, with 26 SHG members actively participating.
Gratitude and Acknowledgements
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Kamala, expressing appreciation to all participants and stakeholders. MOHAN Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to ARUYWE Foundation for the opportunity to raise awareness and support the cause of organ donation in such a meaningful way.
