Organ Donation Awareness at Suraj Rare Flower School

  • On 26th March 2019, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session for the students of Suraj Rare Flower School, Imphal - East. Around 43 students were present at the session which lasted for around 1.5 hours.

     

    Ms. Roma Devi, Transplant Co-ordinator from MOHAN Foundation at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal delivered the talk. The following topics were discussed during the session:

     

    • The necessity and importance of organ donation
    • Types of donors
    • The difference between brain death and cardiac or circulatory death
    • Tissues and organs that could be donated in case of brain death and cardiac death
    • The importance of carrying donor cards
    • Using MOHAN Foundation’s website and helpline number

     

    The programme ended with a Q&A session with participants asking questions about the donor registration process and how organ donation happens. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Suraj Rare Flower School for the opportunity.
