On 8th March 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the President of Lions Club of Thane Central, Lion Mr. Ramakrishnan and the first Lady, Lioness Mrs. Gowri Ramakrishnan, for conducting an awareness session on organ donation on International Women’s Day for its members, at Aarogyadham, Thane.
Mrs. Jaya Jairam began the session by dedicating the day to all the women due to their ever-giving and caring nature in various stages of life, in the different roles that they play – as a daughter, as a wife, as a mother, as a sister. Similarly organ donation was all about “Giving the Gift of Life”.
She introduced MOHAN Foundation and its activities. She went on to explain to the audience the concepts of organ donation such as what, why, how and when can one donate organs. She also discussed the myths and beliefs relating to organ donation which cause people to hesitate or back out of organ donation, thereby refusing the chance to save so many lives and also have their loved one continue to live in this world.
The Lion’s club members pledged to take up organ donation as one of the important tasks in their agenda.
