Organ Donation Awareness at Basti Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha, Nagpur

  • On 10th January 2020, Basti Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha, a NGO invited MOHAN Foundation to educate the office workers about deceased organ donation program, at Buddha Vihar in Devnagar, Nagpur. Mr. Rajesh Dupare, the Secretary of the organization gave a brief introduction about organ donation and also introduced Mr. Bulu Behera, the Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation to the audience.

    Mr. Behera spoke on the following topics:

    • What is organ donation?
    • Whom to contact for organ donation?
    • What is THO Act 1994?
    • Natural death and brain death
    • The eye donation process
    • The body donation process
    • Causes of brain death
    • Role of ZTCC in organ donation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s activities and using the website and help line number

    Some question asked by participants:

    • Where is the MOHAN Foundation office in Nagpur?
    • What is the time duration for organ donation?
    • What is natural death?

    A total of 12 employees were present at the session and 2 of them signed consent forms and received donor cards.

    At the end of the session Mr. Rajesh Dupare thanked MOHAN Foundation as well as participants.
