On July 24, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted an enlightening session on organ donation for the 11th and 12th-grade commerce students at Vivekanand Junior College, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai. The event was organized by Mrs. Rashmi Vighne, the Principal of the college, who played a pivotal role in facilitating the session.
Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, the key resource for the talk, introduced MOHAN Foundation and outlined its activities. The session covered essential topics, including the definition of organ and tissue donation, various types of donations, and specifics about which organs and tissues can be donated after brain death and circulatory death. Ms. Prarthana also clarified the distinctions between circulatory death, and brain stem death.
Ms. Sakshi emphasized the importance of the donor card and displayed MOHAN Foundation's helpline number for further inquiries. She encouraged attendees to become advocates for organ donation within their communities and highlighted the significance of active involvement.
The interactive session included questions from participants on topics such as the THOA Act, the process of skin donation, and the eligibility of individuals with asthma to donate organs. The session concluded on an inspiring note, with 194 participants pledging their organs and actively engaging in the discussion.
