Organ Donation Awareness Stall conducted at Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur

  • On December 5, 2024, MOHAN Foundation organized an organ donation awareness stall at Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, located at Digdoh, Hingna Road, Nagpur. The event was led by Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator at MOHAN Foundation.

    The primary objective of the stall was to educate OPD patients and their relatives about the importance of organ and tissue donation. Mr. Behera provided valuable information on various critical aspects of organ donation, explaining the procedures and clarifying which organs and tissues can be donated after natural death and brain death. He emphasized the significance of time factors involved in organ and tissue transplants and discussed the eligibility criteria for donors, assuring the audience that donation is possible across a broad age range under certain conditions.

    Ethical and legal aspects of organ donation were also highlighted, offering participants a clear understanding of the guidelines and laws governing this noble act. Mr. Behera shared details about MOHAN Foundation's ongoing activities to promote organ donation awareness and stressed the importance of carrying a donor card. Additionally, he informed attendees about financial support available for organ transplants through various government schemes.

    Approximately 35 visitors attended the stall, and the session had a significant impact, with 3 individuals signing consent forms to become organ donors. Participants actively engaged by raising thoughtful questions, such as
