On February 7 and 8, 2025, an Organ Donation Awareness Stall was set up at the prestigious Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) College, Chembur, Mumbai, with the aim of educating students and the local community about the importance of organ and tissue donation. The event was well-attended, drawing a total of 250 enthusiastic participants over the two days.
The stall provided valuable information about the life-saving benefits of organ donation, including how organs can save lives and the critical need for donors. It sparked meaningful conversations among students and allowed them to explore various aspects of organ donation. Throughout the event, a variety of informational materials and visual aids were displayed, enabling attendees to learn more about this important cause.
On February 7, to further engage the students, a quiz competition was organized. This interactive element created a fun and dynamic environment, helping to reinforce the information shared at the stall while fostering a sense of participation. The quiz was well-received and helped attendees deepen their understanding of the organ donation process.
Ms. Sakshi and Ms. Prarthana expertly facilitated the sessions on both days, ensuring that the information was both informative and engaging. They encouraged attendees to ask questions, addressing a wide range of concerns that were raised. Many people were curious about the role of NGOs in organ donation, the process for pledging to become a donor, and the specifics of Netradaan (eye donation). Questions also arose regarding the time limit for organ donation, the legalities involved, and myths or misconceptions surrounding the topic.
As a result of the event, 20 students made the decision to pledge their support for organ donation, committing to spread awareness about the cause and actively encourage others to consider becoming donors. The event was a resounding success in raising awareness and encouraging active participation in the organ donation movement.
