  • On February 20, 2025, an enlightening Organ Donation Awareness Session was conducted at the Traffic Training Institute for Batch 490 in Byculla, Mumbai. The session was attended by 112 participants, all of whom were adults seeking to learn more about the vital topic of organ donation. The primary goal of this session was to educate and engage attendees on the importance of organ donation and its life-saving potential.

The session was led and facilitated by Ms. Sakshi, who delivered a comprehensive and engaging presentation. With her expertise, she ensured that the session was informative and relevant to the audience, addressing common questions and concerns related to organ donation. Ms. Sakshi effectively covered several critical aspects of organ donation, including:

    • Cardiac Death and Brain Death: She provided an in-depth explanation of the differences between cardiac death and brain death, clarifying how organs are viable for donation in cases of brain death and the ethical considerations involved.
    • Who Can Donate Organs: The session also focused on educating the attendees about who is eligible to donate organs. Ms. Sakshi clarified that individuals of all ages could pledge to donate their organs, and the importance of everyone, regardless of age or health status, considering donation was emphasized.
    • Age for Pledge: Attendees were informed that there is no strict age limit for pledging organ donation, and even individuals over the age of 60 could become donors, depending on their health condition at the time of death.
    • Green Corridor and Coordination with Traffic Police: A unique and informative segment of the session was dedicated to explaining the concept of the "Green Corridor," a system that enables the swift transportation of organs from donors to recipients, often across long distances. Ms. Sakshi elaborated on how this corridor is facilitated by the collaboration of traffic police, who help clear the roads to ensure that the organs reach the hospital in time for transplant surgery.

Throughout the session, Ms. Sakshi encouraged active participation from the attendees, answering their questions and clearing up misconceptions regarding organ donation. She highlighted how each individual’s pledge could potentially save multiple lives and create a ripple effect of awareness in their communities.

The awareness session at the Traffic Training Institute was a significant success, providing valuable insights into organ donation to a group of engaged adults. With 112 attendees, the session was highly informative, and the interactive discussions helped participants gain a deeper understanding of the process, legalities, and the life-saving impact of organ donation.

The session was yet another successful effort in promoting organ donation awareness and demonstrating how collaborative efforts, such as the green corridor system with the traffic police, play a vital role in saving lives. It is hoped that more such initiatives will continue to empower individuals to join the life-saving cause of organ donation.
