On September 15, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation set up an organ donation awareness stall at Jhulelal Institute of Technology (JIT) in Lonara, Nagpur, during the Ganapati Bapa Mahaprasad program. The event was organized by Mr. Pratap Dewani, who invited Transplant Coordinator Mr. Bulu J. Behera to manage the stall.
The stall was graced by the visit of Hon’ble Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, as well as Mr. Mahesh Sadhwani, Director of Jhulelal Institute of Technology. Other notable dignitaries who visited included Rajkumar Chelani, Director of Plaza Group; Kishan Assudani, Chairman of Sunder Kala Sangam and Director of Sadhana Sahakari Bank; Mohan Vidhani, President of the Sindhi Social Forum; and Ashok Makhijani, Secretary of the Sindhi Social Forum. Members of the community, including Kamal Belani, Ashok Mirani, Kamal Mulchandani, Sri Kishore Seth, Sri Bharat Seth of Batukbhai Jewellers, and Kishor Thutheja, President of Laughter Club Nagpur, also attended the stall.
Visitors asked several questions, such as who is the head of the MOHAN Foundation in Chennai, whom to contact at the time of organ donation, the differences between coma and brain death, and what government provisions exist for organ transplantation.
Approximately 40 visitors engaged with the stall, with 2 of whom taken the pledge for organ donation, while others preferred to register online. A special thanks to Mr. Pratap Dewani for organizing such a successful and impactful program.
