On October 7, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an enlightening organ donation awareness session for the members of AKOS Dance Academy, Uran, Navi Mumbai. The session was led by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, who introduced the MOHAN Foundation and its longstanding commitment to advocating for deceased organ donation, highlighting the Foundation's impactful initiatives.
Ms. Prarthana provided a thorough explanation of the differences between cardiac death and brain death, detailing the organs and tissues that can be donated in each scenario. She also discussed recent advancements in the field, such as hand transplantation, and emphasized the importance of tissue donation, including skin, eyes, and bones. Through compelling transplant success stories and examples of green corridors, Ms. Prarthana effectively illustrated the life-saving impact of organ donation.
The session also addressed and debunked prevalent myths about organ donation, particularly those commonly held by the families of deceased donors. Ms. Prarthana stressed the importance of family discussions about organ donation and the necessity of carrying a donor card for those who wish to pledge their organs.
The event was attended by approximately 22 members of Akos Dance Academy, all of whom pledged their support for the cause of organ donation. This reflects a strong commitment to the cause and a growing interest in saving lives through organ donation.
The MOHAN Foundation extends its gratitude to the IMA Association Ulwe for their collaboration and commitment to promoting organ donation awareness within the community.
