Organ Donation Awareness Session at Vashi Police Station by MOHAN Foundation, Navi Mumbai

    On June 7, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session at Vashi Police Station, Navi Mumbai. The session was organized at the invitation of Mr. Madhukar Bate, a senior police officer, to educate police officials about their role in promoting organ donation.

     

    Session Overview:

    • Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi introduced MOHAN Foundation, outlining its missions and objectives in promoting organ donation.
    • Participants were asked about their perceptions of organ donation, eliciting a mixed response of both positive and negative views.
    • Ms. Prarthana explained various aspects
      1. Types of death: Brain death and circulatory death
      2. Organs and tissues that can be donated after death
      3. Difference between brain death and coma
      4. Myths and facts about organ donation
    • Information on the process of organ allocation and donation was shared, highlighting the importance of timely actions.

     

    Approximately 48 police staff attended the session, with 23 individuals pledging to become organ donors. Ms. Prarthana addressed queries from participants promptly.

    MOHAN Foundation expressed gratitude to Mr. Madhukar Bate, Mr. Ashok Gaikwad from Administration, Mr. Sanjay Nade from Crime Branch, and all staff members for the invitation and support towards promoting organ donation.

    The organ donation awareness session at Vashi Police Station was well-received, with active participation and significant pledges from attendees. It underscored the critical role of police officials in facilitating timely organ donations and dispelled myths surrounding the process.
