Organ Donation Awareness Session at Mission India Theological Seminary, Khadgaon, Nagpur

  • On Nov 23, 2024, MOHAN Foundation's Veena Wathore and Bhagyashree Nighot were invited by Mission India Theological Seminary, Khadgaon, Nagpur to conduct an awareness session for their students. This program was conducted in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association, MOHAN Foundation, Mission India Theological Institutions, Christian Service Agency, and Mission India Hospital.

    Dr. Thomas John, Principal of Mission India Theological Seminary, gave introductory remarks on the importance of organ donation, promoting values of compassion, empathy, and selflessness. Dr. Sameer Jahagirdar, Plastic Surgeon and Vice President of IMA, explained the medical criteria of brain death in detail, along with the legal aspects and the process of skin donation through a PPT presentation.

    Veena Wathore made the discussion interactive with questions and answers, focusing on ethical values. Ms. Khushi shared her own live liver donation experience (part of her liver was donated to her father). Bhagyashree Nighot distributed the pledge forms and informational brochures.

    A total of 120 theology students, faculty members, and staff attended the awareness session. Some of the queries asked included:

    • As theology students, how can we get involved in organ donation?
