On December 26, 2024, an enlightening organ donation awareness session was conducted at the Champa Grampanchayat Primary School for the NSS students of Dr. Ambedkar Social Work College, Newkalayash Nagar, Nagpur. The session was led by Mr. Bulu Behera, who provided valuable insights into the importance of organ and tissue donation.
The program was organized under the guidance of Dr. Ramchandra Mure, NSS in-charge, with faculty members and approximately 50 NSS students in attendance.
Mr. Behera explained critical concepts, such as brain death and cardiac death, and highlighted which organs and tissues can be donated. He also addressed the legal aspects of organ donation, dispelled common myths, and provided valuable information on eye and body donation. The students engaged actively, asking questions about how to contact authorities after death and whether there is any financial support available for donor families.
The session had a meaningful impact, with two students signing consent forms for organ donation on-site, while others expressed interest in registering online. The program concluded with heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Behera for his inspiring talk and to Dr. Mure for his support in organizing the event.
This initiative successfully motivated the students to contribute to the life-saving cause of organ donation and spread awareness within their communities.
