Organ Donation Awareness Program at C. Kandaswamy Naidu College for Women, Cuddalore

  • Masters of Social Work (MSW) students organised a community programme at their college - C. Kandasamy Naidu College for Women, Cuddalore on 10th  February 2014 at 2.00 pm. The aim of the program was to create awareness about Organ Donation among the college students. The topic was selected according to under the guidance of the Assistant Professor S. Vanathi and concurrence of the college Principal.

     

    The Community programme started with a prayer song by the students followed by a group Song. The welcome address was given by Miss. V. Kodeeswari, student of II year MSW. The Chief Guest, R. Ananth was honored with a memento.  Miss. S. Vanathy, Asst Professor, Department of Social Work gave an inaugural address. Felicitation speech was given by Dr. J. Anusuya, In-charge Principal of C. Kandasamy Naidu College for Women, Cuddalore.

     

    Mr. R. Ananth, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation Chennai & Pondicherry Institute of Medical Science (PIMS), Puducherry, gave a detail speech about the Organ donation and its importance to the participants.  He spoke about Natural death, Brain death; difference between natural death and brain death; difference between brain stem death and coma; organs that can be donated, importance of the donor card, Role of Transplant Coordinator, Role of family members of the organ donor, activities of the MOHAN Foundation. This talk was the highlight of this programme because he did it as an interactive  session with the students. So the students were attentive and involved during the whole programme.

     

    Mr. A. Durai Raj, Asst Professor, Department of Social Work gave speech to the participants with useful video clippings and explanations.

     

    The programme came to an end with a Vote of thanks and National Anthem by Mr. T. Sankar, II year MSW.  20 MSW Students of St. Joseph’s college and 150 Students of C. Kandasamy Naidu college for women were participated in this programme.
