Organ Donation Ambassador organises a Community Program at Kolathur, Chennai

  • On 28th September 2024, a community program was organised by ambassador Stephen Joy.  Working women and housewives from the area of Dr. Ambedkar Nagar, Kolathur, Chennai were invited to his house for a short meeting. The program aimed to educate and empower the women of the community on organ donation.

    Ms Arshiya Fathima, (Helpline counselor & CEE) represented MOHAN Foundation. Around 12 women and 2 men participated in the program. Mr. Stephen Joy A distributed brochures and green ribbons.

    The program started with a small introduction about MOHAN Foundation by Ms Arshiya Fathima.

    Ambassador  Mr Stephen Joy A explained the concepts of organ donation. He touched upon types of organ donation, laws and legislation and the difference between brain death and coma. The statistics about Tamil Nadu organ donation for the past 16 years and current waiting list was discussed. The talk ended with the screening of a video about Tamil Nadu organ donation event 2024. After the talk, discussion was about schemes that help people to receive a transplant, MOHAN Foundations Anudaan program,  and  is it mandatory to carry a donor card to be able to donate. Mr Stephen also conducted a short study about the impact of his talk on the audience.

    Followed by Ms Arshiya Fathima gave an account on ambassador program for their children and clarified the participant's doubts on organ donation.

    Mrs. Amal Jesudass who participated in the program has pledged as an organ donor.
