  • On June 26, 2024, the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) invited Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director of the MOHAN Foundation, NCR, to speak at the 11th batch of Transplant Coordinators Training, held from June 24 to June 28, 2024. She addressed the topic "Grief Counselling and Making the Ask for Organ Donation" at the Training Hall, NIOP Building, Safdarjung Hospital Campus, Ansari Nagar West, New Delhi. Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer, MF NCR, accompanied Ms. Kumar.

Ms. Pallavi has previously delivered lectures on Grief Counselling and Making the Ask for Organ Donation for earlier batches of transplant coordinator training organised by NOTTO.

Medical and nursing officers from various Army Command hospitals across India attended the training. The session focused on two aspects:

    • Raising awareness about the importance of effective communication to secure better affirmations in donations.

    • Highlighting that the request for organ donation can only proceed once the family fully understands brain death after receiving difficult news.

Using a PowerPoint presentation, Ms. Pallavi addressed the following topics:

    • Breaking the news of death

    • Stages of grief

    • Making the request for organ donation: why and how it should be done

    • Decoupling: the timing of the request for organ donation

Close to 50 people attended the workshop.
