MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ravindra Bharti School, Dilsukhnagar & Chaitanyapuri to conduct an awareness session for their students as a part of their science fest organized on January 31, 2015.
Student volunteers that will present about organ donation during the science fest participated in the session along with some staff members. The students were provided with information brochures, activity reports of MOHAN Foundation, donor cards to be distributed during the science fest.
Dr. Koti Reddy of MOHAN Foundation gave an exclusive presentation about the importance of deceased organ donation, religious and cultural barriers involved with organ donation & eye donation, benefits of transplantation, T.H.O 1994 Act, concept of brain death and myths surrounding organ donation.
Students were really motivated during the presentation and to our surprise came up with a lot of questions on the technical aspects of organ donation, advantages of deceased organ donation, requirement and availability of organs for ill patients and legal aspects involved in organ donation.
We thank the Principal, Dean and management of Ravindra Bharti School for making this innovative move on getting their students trained on organ donation and the students in turn will spread the information to the general public especially the parents of school students.
We thank Sri. M. Subramanyam, Chairman, Ravindra Bharti School for permitting us in organizing this event to promote organ donation. We also thank all the student volunteers for their active participation and hope that this event has ignited the young minds on organ donation.
