  • On July 24, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation organized an elocution competition at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) in Nagpur, as part of the ongoing Organ Donation Awareness Campaign. The event was specifically aimed at raising awareness about the importance of organ donation among MBBS students.

The competition featured ten enthusiastic participants who delivered compelling speeches on various aspects of organ donation, including its benefits, the process, and the ethical considerations involved. The elocution competition provided a platform for students to express their views and engage deeply with the subject matter. Following a series of insightful and well-articulated speeches, three standout participants were awarded for their exceptional performances.

The event was meticulously organized by Dr. Vaishali Shelgaonkar, Professor and Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, and Dr. Sanjeev Chaudhary, Associate Professor in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM). Their leadership and commitment played a crucial role in the successful execution of the competition. The competition was well-attended by 60 students from the PSM department and 5 students pledged for organ donation, who actively participated in and supported the event.

The elocution competition not only provided valuable insights into organ donation but also fostered a deeper understanding and discussion among future medical professionals. By engaging students in meaningful dialogue, the event contributed significantly to the broader goal of enhancing organ donation awareness and advocacy within the medical community.
