Educating outpatients at Government Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur

  • On 27th June 2016, Government Medical College, Nagpur, invited MOHAN Foundation to speak about organ donation to the outpatients. Mrs.Chiya Jadhav arranged the stall where MOHAN Foundation displayed information brochures, donor cards, standees and a banner.   Mr. Bulu Behera & Ms. Kanchan Shewde Transplant coordinators managed the stall.

     Information given to outpatients were about: 

    1. Types of death
    2. Who can donate organs and value of a donor card
    3. After Brain Death which Organ and tissues can be donated
    4. After Natural Death which tissues can be donated
    5. In living person which organ can be donated
    6. What is priority list of organ recipient?

    The visitors were also told about the activities of MOHAN Foundation and were requested to use helpline number & visit MOHAN Foundation Website for more information.

    22 patients visited the stall. After understanding about organ donation, 15 people took consent form & 2 people signed consent form and took donor card, others will sign consent form after discussing with their family.

    Questions asked by visitors.

    Who is the appropriate person to sign consent form for donate organ?

    Is any financial help  given to  the donor family?

    What is the procedure for kidney transplant?
