Dr. Sunil Shroff and Ms. Pallavi Kumar invited as faculty at a CME organized at AIIMS Bhubaneswar

  • Dr Sunil Shroff (Managing Trustee) and Ms Pallavi Kumar (Executive Director) were invited to speak at a CME and workshop on “Awareness on Organ Donation” organized by Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, AIIMS Bhubaneswar in association with NOTTO (National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation) on November 27, 2022. This was the first such workshop organized by AIIMS Bhubaneswar with a view to start deceased organ donation and transplantation in the institute.

     

    Dr Sunil Shroff spoke on, “Setting up a successful deceased donation program in a hospital” and Ms Pallavi Kumar spoke on, “ The art of Grief Counselling and supporting donor families”

     

    Some of the other sessions were: 

    • Current status of deceased donation & transplants in India – Dr Krishan Kumar, Director NOTTO
    • Evolution of deceased organ donation in PGIMER Chandigarh – Dr Vipin Koushal, Nodal Officer, ROTTO PGIMER Chandigarh
    • Brain stem death identification & certification – Dr Deepak Gupta, JPNA Trauma Centre, AIIMS New Delhi
    • Organ allocation policy in deceased organ donor transplantation – Dr Archana Kumari, Consultant Coordination, NOTTO 

     

    Skits and mimes were performed by Umang, the drama club of AIIMS Bhubaneshwar.

     

    The movie, “Aye Zindagi” based on the real life story of Mrs Lalitha Raghuram (Country Director, MOHAN Foundation) was also screened post the CME.
