International Organ Donation Day was commemorated by the students of the computer science department of SA College of Arts and Science. On August 23, 2024 an awareness session titled “Organ Treasure” was organized at the college auditorium. Dr Sankara Subramaniyan K, Neurologist, Sri Balaji Neuro Care and Mr Ganesh C, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation and Ms. Malina, Share Life Foundation were invited as resource persons to address the gathering.
The session began with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, and welcome address note by Mr. Chandrasekar P, Head of Department, Computer Science & Applications. Dr Sankara Subramaniyan K spoke about mental health and emphasized on keeping our brain healthy and the importance of getting adequate sleep & eating health.
Mr. Ganesh commenced talk with “Donor” video by Director Vijay and walked the students through the concept of organ donation, brain death, time factor, how to get a transplant and explained how to effectively use the organ donation helpline 1800 103 7100. Ms. Malina from Share Life Foundation, and an ambassador of organ donation, shared her own experience as donor family, and opened the minds of the students towards organ donation.
160 students and staff participated and information brochures were distributed. The session concluded with the National Anthem. MOHAN Foundation extends its warm gratitude to Mr. Chandrasekar, HOD and to the management of SA College of Arts and Science for the opportunity and hospitality.
