On 1st August, 2013 the last awareness session of the Organ Donor Sign-up Drive was conducted for the employees of Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL) at their SS (Shared Services) Office in Gurgaon.
Mr. Davinder Singh, Assistant Manager, JLL, SSO took up the responsibility of being ambassador for this noble cause as he was already an organ donor and had pledged his organs in 2003 in Australia.
The session started with Dr. Muneet Sahi, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi introducing the Foundation and the work which it does to promote deceased organ donation in the country. She also shared with the group the ongoing Times of India campaign, “I lead India, I will be the change” and August 6, 2013 being marked as Organ Donation day. Newspaper articles from the newspaper giving information about the campaign were shown to the group which was received with great interest.
The main focus of the talk was on organ donation after brain death, legal aspects of organ donation and myths around organ donation. The importance of pledging ones organs and further, the importance of discussing the wish with loved ones was stressed upon.
A total of 65 people attended the session and 15 participants signed the donor card.
