Awareness talk for the young researchers of BEROE

  • BEROE an IT analysis  and support company,  invited MOHAN Foundation to give an  awareness talk on Organ Donation as a part of their social activityon 19.06.2013 at Thoraipakkam. Ms. Kavitha, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation delivered a talk. Multiple sessions were held at the seminar hall, to cover the entire staff. 

     

    During the session following topics were focused on:

    1. Legal issues in Organ Donation
    2. Types of Donors
    3. Difference between  Brain Death and Coma
    4. Function of Brain Stem
    5. Organs can be donated
    6. Organ preservation and transplantation
    7. Eye Donation
    8. Tamil Nadu Network of Organ Sharing
    9. Activities of MOHAN Foundation and Helpline 
    10. Information was given on MOHAN foundation website, face book  and toll free  helpline number

     

    At the end of the session many queries discussed:

    1. Are  organs given free of cost?
    2. Do we have any organization were we can register for donating our organs legally?
    3. Eye bank centers in India
    4. Who will approach for Organ Donation?
    5. Can we call to this toll free number in case of tissues donation?

     

    Nearly 80 of them showed their support by signing the donor card. Few cards and brochures left with BEROE team to distribute to staff who missed the session.
