India has a large youth population, with approximately 420 million young people. If we want to make a change in society, it is essential to start with this demographic. Thus on April 16, 2025, the MOHAN Foundation planned an awareness session for the youth beneficiaries of Aide et action in collaboration with the Family Planning Association of India (FPA). Aide et Action is a NGO focuses on empowering the lives of youth by providing free education in digital skills.
The MOHAN Foundation team consisted of Ms. Sangeetha, the Project Executive, and Ms. Anood, an intern from Manipal University. There were 33 college students attending the session. The program began with an introductory speech from Ms. Kavitha, the branch manager of FPA. Following her, Dr. Alarmel Mangai MO (UFWC), delivered a one-hour session on reproductive and sexual health. She highlighted how to recognize the difference between violence and pleasure in sex. She emphasized the importance of safe sex and the need to say "no" to a partner if you are not interested. It’s your body; it’s your choice.
After that, Ms. Sangeetha spoke about eye donation, the need and the steps to become an eye donor. Finally, Ms. Anood discussed organ donation, the types of organs we can donate, and the donation process. The students were very attentive, and each of them picked a donor card, with many requesting extra cards to share with their college mates. The event was a great success, thanks in part to the support of Mr. Rinuraj, the program officer at FPA, Ms. Naisem, the program manager at Aide et Action, and their staff member, Ms. Roveena Patricia. The session concluded with a group photo of the students and staff.
