The session was organised by Times of India in collaboration with MF( education partner) and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (main sponsor) . TOI has organised these sessions on organ donation in various schools across Delhi-NCR as part of organ donation drive that would culminate in the month of August on organ donation day and the talk in Amity International School was the inaugural session of this drive.

Ms. Maua from Amity International School coordinated the whole program. Chaitanya began the session by asking the present students what all they knew about organ donation. Many students came up with answers but one of them very beautifully answered that it is a noble act to save someone. Then she explained the need for organ donation in our country, followed by who can donate organs and what all organs can be donated. Further, she explained them the types of donation and after this a 5-minute video on brain death was shown to the students.

Post this; various concepts of organ donation like THOA act, causes of brain death, contraindications to organ donation, organ donation rates in India, etc. were explained. Special emphasis was given to eye donation and myths related to organ donation were also discussed.

Questions were taken at the end of the talk. Many students came up with questions like if there is some way to donate organs after natural death, what will happen if someone asks for money for donating organs, what happens if in second apnoea test the person shows breathing efforts and all them were professionally addressed by Chaitanya. Overall the session was interactive and students actively took part in the discussion.

In the end, Chaitanya asked the students to raise hands, who think that organ donation is a noble act and more than 50 students raised their hands. She also told them to discuss the same with their family members and motivate them to become organ donors by signing the donor card.
