On 13th January 2019, a mega blood donation was organised by Kaka Gole Foundation in association with Rotary Club of Badlapur Industrial area. MOHAN Foundation was invited for installation of informative stall and for giving awareness about the Organ Donation. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Mohan Kamrakar, Mr. Rajiv Diwan and Mr. Ashish Gole.
The stall was held by Dr. Jimmy, Mr. Akash Salve and Giants group of Kalyan President and MOHAN Foundation life member Mr. N P Iyer. All the arrangements and crowd management was supported by NSS Students under the guidance Lieutenant Pratima Datar – Tambat. Among the list of honourable guests were MLA Mr. Kisan Shankar Kathore of Badlapur (Murbad Vidhansabha Constituency) and Dr.Kailash B.Pawar - Civil Surgeon of Thane Civil Hospital who supported the cause of Organ Donation.
Dr. Jimmy held an awareness session and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthrophy. She introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for public. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home which caught attention of the crowd and everybody started asking queries related to tissue donation which were answered promptly. She also discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor which was somewhat familiar to the crowd.
About 500 blood donations happened in the mega camp and about 400 people visited the stall. About 87 pledges were taken. We thank Dr. Mohan Kamrakar, Mr. Rajiv Diwanfrom Rotary Club of Badlapur Industrial area and Mr. Ashish Gole from Kaka Gole Foundation for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
