On May 06, 2023, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for the residents of Casagrand Aristo. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde (Quality Assurance Officer), Ms. Arshiya Fathima (Helpline Counsellor) and Ambassador Ms Gayathri Ravichandran were deputed for the session. The session was coordinated by Mrs. Radha Mani Rtn (Rotary Club of Chennai Towers). 16 residents joined the session.
Ms. Arshiya Fathima distributed brochures, green ribbon and introduced about Dr. Hemal Kanvinde.
The session began with an inspirational film on organ donation. Dr. Hemal spoke on the concepts of organ donation and the need for organs, what and when donation can happen. She explained brain death - causes and certification process. She also spoke how a patient can register in the government waitlist for a transplant. myths on donation were clarified and process of registration was explained. The session ended with the short video of a recipient.
Later Ms. Arshiya distributed Donor cards and collected details in registration form. 2 people pledged for donation.
