Awareness Talk on Organ Donation for the members of post office Department at Vashi, Navi Mumbai

    On June 13, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on Organ Donation for members of the Post Office Department and the general public in Vashi. The session, organized by Mohammad Sahid, Superintendent of the Post Office, aimed to educate attendees about the importance of organ and tissue donation. Ms. Prarthana began her presentation by introducing herself and MOHAN Foundation, setting the stage for an informative discussion.

    During the session, Ms. Prarthana covered essential topics such as the definition of organ and tissue donation, eligibility criteria for donors, different types of donors, and the various types of death that enable donation. She also addressed prevalent myths and presented facts to dispel misconceptions surrounding organ donation. Emphasizing the importance of donor cards, she highlighted their role in facilitating donation processes and discussed the significance of body donation for medical research and education.

    The interactive session saw active participation from the audience, with numerous questions posed to Ms. Prarthana. Queries ranged from concerns about the impact of bone donation on the body's appearance to practical steps for registering for eye donation. Discussions also clarified the differences between body and organ donation, as well as the possibility and procedures for elderly individuals to donate organs posthumously. Encouragingly, 63 members pledged their organs following the session, demonstrating a growing commitment to this life-saving cause among the 106 participants present. MOHAN Foundation extends its gratitude to Mohammad Sahid for his invitation and unwavering support in promoting organ donation awareness.

    Following the engaging session, there was a noticeable sense of empowerment and awareness among the participants regarding organ donation. Many expressed their newfound understanding and enthusiasm for becoming organ donors, driven by the clarity provided on the donation process and its impact on saving lives. The pledges made by 63 members signify a significant step towards building a community committed to altruism and healthcare advancement through organ donation.
